...könnte man sagen, ist ein Geheimtipp aus Berlin, ein Grund mehr vom Sofa aufzustehen und den Fernseher auszuschalten - Sehr direkt und immer anders als man denkt - mal laut, mal ruhig, grooovend, verhalten - leise, dann wieder explosiv, experimentell, mitunter sogar vocal und immer überraschend... Die Musik die aus dem Bauch heraus direkt ins Herz trifft - nennen sie einfach Vibrant-Fugu-Jazz...
In der bewegten Bio des Ensembels, fing alles damit an, dass (Gründer) Emanuel Hauptmann (drums), Oliver Saar (bari & tubax) das Quintett, BLOFISH 2007, ins Leben riefen. Zusammen mit dem Solisten Dirk Steglich (t-sax), dem Kanadier Scott White am Bass, so wie dem Trompeter Florian Wehse, bilden die Fünf, einer kleinen Big-Band gleich, nun das aktuelle Team um BLOFISH, das diese Besetzung - drei Bläser, Bass & Drums, so speziell macht.
2008 kam es dazu, dass BLOFISH im Rahmen einer sehr erfolgreichen Konzertreihe der Sommerfestspiele -Mecklenburg - Vorpommern, für eine Konzertlesung (Jazz and Lyrics mit Ilja Richter) eingeladen wurde.
Dies sollte nicht unbemerkt bleiben und war nun Auftakt für Weiteres... Live-Mitschnitte aus dieser Reihe waren Anlass genug, dass sich Ulf Drechsel vom RBB und Emanuel Hauptmann zusammentaten, um über BLOFISH zu entscheiden. 2011 wurde das Quintett [damals noch unterstützt durch Martin Klingeberg (trp.) & Tim Kleinsorge (b.)], von Ulf zu Aufnahmen ihrer CD “Three against Two“ in die Studios des RBB (Rundfunk-Berlin-Brandenburg) eingeladen. Diverse Touren und Konzerte, in Deutschland, wie auch druch weite Teile Russlands sollten folgen, um so ihr Publikum in den Clubs, Bars oder Festivals weitreichend an ihrer schweißtreibenden Musik zu erfreuen.

...always unexpected, sometimes loud, then calm, subdued and quiet, but then again explosive, instrumental occasionally even accompanied by vocals - definitely surprising... music with a groove that moves you and hits you right thru the heart - always quite difficult to put in words and to pigeonhole - thats why they just called it Vibrant-Fugu-Jazz...
It all began 2007 in Berlin - the two musicians, (founder) Emanuel Hauptmann on drums and Oliver Saar (baritone sax & tubax), that dicided to put together the group BLOFISH and bring it to life. Reenforced by solist Dirk Steglich (t-sax.) , bassman Scott White and trumpete player Florian Wehse, they build the current team around this uniqe sounding three horn band.
Due to a live recording at the Summerfestival Mecklenburg - Vorpommern 2008, BLOFISH got together with Ulf Drechsel from the RBB (Radio-Berlin-Brandenburg), to make future plans for their CD “Three against Two“. In the summer of 2011 the quintet, [supported by the former members, Martin Klingeberg (trp.) & bass player Tim Kleinsorge ], got invited to record their album at the RBB-studios. After all that, concerts and tours thru clubs, bars and festivals in Germany as well as big parts of Russia (2012 / 2013) should follow. That kind of teamwork is, what makes thier dedication to the music and creativity flow and share these moments with the audience, getting back all that positive energy from all those who listen to it...
